Run club in BANBURY
Cherwell Runners & Joggers is a Banbury-based running club founded in 1990 and affiliated to England Athletics, with over 100 members. It is open to runners of all levels, from Couch to 5K starters to marathon runners, and covers both competitive and casual running. Sessions run from Woodgreen Leisure Centre twice a week, with several groups of different speeds and distances.
Two club nights a week, both starting at 7pm from the Woodgreen pool-side entrance (What3Words: stands.urban.scenes). Tuesday is the main social club night with several pace and distance groups and run leaders always available, and is the recommended night for newcomers. Thursday is members-only and usually a hills session of roughly 6 miles around Banbury, run in two mixed-pace groups, with a coached session on the first Thursday of the month and occasional alternatives such as a cross country run finishing at the pub; these are communicated via the members Facebook page and at Tuesday sessions. Sessions are led by qualified UK Athletics Run Leaders. Visitors are welcome for a couple of trial sessions before joining; members are asked to come twice then take up membership if they wish to continue. Before a first session, contact Dawn Osborne at cherwellrunners@yahoo.co.uk so an appropriate run leader can be arranged. Membership includes England Athletics insurance and race discounts. The club also hosts an annual 6 mile race. England Athletics affiliated club.
