Privacy policy.

Last updated: 25 April 2026

This privacy policy explains how JOG Labs ("we", "us", "JOG") collects, uses and protects information about you when you use the JOG mobile app and joglabs.co.uk (together, the "Service"). We are the data controller for the personal data processed under this policy.

1. What we collect

When you use JOG we may collect:

  • Account data — name, email address, profile photo, and authentication identifiers (e.g. Apple ID, Google ID) when you sign up.
  • Profile data — anything you choose to add to your JOG profile, such as bio, running level or social links.
  • Location data — your approximate location while the app is open, used only to show run clubs near you on the map. We do not track your location in the background.
  • Activity data — clubs you join, runs you mark as attending, messages you send in club chats, and stamps you collect for loyalty rewards.
  • Device data — device model, OS version, app version, language, and crash diagnostics.
  • Push notification tokens — so we can send run reminders and chat notifications.

2. How we use it

  • To run the Service — show clubs near you, manage attendance, deliver chats and notifications.
  • To keep the Service safe — detect abuse, enforce community guidelines, and respond to support requests.
  • To improve the Service — aggregated, non-identifying analytics on how features are used.
  • To deliver loyalty rewards — track how many runs you've attended at a given club so the host can issue you the reward they offer.
  • To communicate with you — service emails, occasional product updates (you can opt out of marketing at any time).

3. Legal basis (UK GDPR)

We process your personal data under the following lawful bases:

  • Contract — to provide the app you've signed up for.
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the Service safe and improve it.
  • Consent — for optional features like push notifications and location, which you can withdraw at any time in your device settings.

4. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

  • Service providers — Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, push notifications, hosting) and Apple (push notifications). These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate data-protection agreements.
  • Run-club hosts — your name, profile photo and attendance status are visible to hosts of clubs you join, and to other members of those clubs.
  • Affiliate partners — when you tap an affiliate link from a JOG reward, the destination merchant receives standard click-tracking data via affiliate networks (e.g. Awin). We never pass your name, email or other identifying information.
  • Authorities — where we are legally required to (e.g. court order, fraud investigation).

5. International transfers

Some of our service providers (e.g. Google Cloud) may process data outside the UK. Where they do, transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards under UK GDPR.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required to retain it for legal reasons (e.g. financial records).

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct or update inaccurate data.
  • Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Receive a portable copy of your data.
  • Withdraw consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@joglabs.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

8. Cookies and analytics

The website joglabs.co.uk does not currently use third-party tracking or advertising cookies. The mobile app uses Firebase Analytics with anonymised identifiers to understand feature usage. You can disable analytics on iOS via Settings → Privacy → Analytics & Improvements.

9. Children

JOG is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in-app or by email. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
