Run club in Winchester
Winchester & District Athletics Club (WADAC) is an athletics club with senior and junior sections, offering endurance running alongside track and field disciplines. The adult section is open to anyone over 18 and caters for club runners of a range of abilities, with UKA-qualified coaches and entry to cross country, road and track competition. Senior endurance sessions run midweek at the track and from River Park, with taster sessions arranged in advance.
Senior membership covers anyone over 18 and, for endurance, is aimed at confident runners who can run for about an hour three times a week; all sessions except Tuesday expect a pace of at least 9:30 minute miles for around an hour, while the Tuesday session is adaptable to all levels of experience and fitness. Brand new runners are pointed to the NHS Couch to 5k plan and parkrun first. New adults should complete the Seniors Taster Session Form before attending so the club can advise on the right group. Membership is paid online through the club membership system; fees are listed on the Membership Fees page, and anyone with special circumstances can email chair@wadac.org.uk. Member benefits include coaching from UKA-qualified coaches with no track fees, free entry to club league events in cross country, track and field and relays, cheaper road race entries, a chance of a club place for the London Marathon, 15% discount at Alexandra Sports and social events. There is no parking at the track: park at Barfield Close Park and Ride (free after 4pm) and walk. On Wednesdays, meet at River Park; the car park is free from 5pm but often full, with more parking two minutes away at St Peters car park (free after 6pm). Changing rooms and showers are available at the club house, but no lockers. High-viz clothing is requested in winter. General club contact: mel.iredale@wadac.org.uk (Club Administrator). England Athletics affiliated club.
