Run club in NOTTINGHAM
Southwell Running Club is a club in Southwell, Nottinghamshire, founded in September 1986 by local runner Bill Johnson. It welcomes runners of all abilities and offers a mix of running and social activities. Typical sessions are Tuesday evening training, Thursday evening club runs and Saturday morning social runs, with group leaders and a back marker so slower runners are looked after.
Club sessions run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings; further detail is under About Us -> Training Sessions. Tuesday evenings are structured training (for example short intervals) meeting at the Southwell Leisure Centre car park outside Minster Junior School; Thursday evenings are club runs, usually meeting at the usual spot in the car park near the Leisure Centre, though some are held elsewhere, such as a club 5k Grand Prix race meeting at the Reindeer, Edingley with refreshments afterwards. Saturday morning social runs start at 09:00 and use varying locations, for example Eakring Anderson Farm NG22 8PA; Tuesday and Saturday rotas and a diary of events are published on the site. Sessions are kept to around an hour and use groups and pacing methods so runners of different abilities finish together, with a leader and a "whipper-in" who stays with the back runner. Reflective vests are required from 1 October to 31 March. First sessions are free with no obligation to join, and there is a Join link on the website. England Athletics affiliated club.
