Run club in Oadby
Roadhoggs Leicester AC is a running club formed in 1984 (originally as Hogg Robinson Roadhoggs) based in Leicester, with members ranging from social runners to racers. Training nights usually offer three route options of around 4 miles, 5-6 miles and 6-7 miles, with maps posted on the website in advance. There are no strict pace groups; runners organise themselves by the speed they want to run, and newer or less confident runners are paired with someone to run with.
Weekly sessions run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Tuesday is a structured, coached session at Victoria Park War Memorial from 19:00, led by Richard, Sam or Dave, covering drills, intervals and hills. Wednesday sessions run from Manor Road (Roger Bettles Sports Centre car park) at 18:55 for a 19:00 start during winter (mid-September to March); in the lighter months (April to early September) the Wednesday run is often based in a Leicestershire village, with the location and route map posted on the homepage. Occasional strength and conditioning classes are held in six-week blocks. On Monday nights there is the option of running with the club's sister group, Scraptoft Joggers, from the White House pub. An "improvers" group is available for those who have completed a parkrun or 5K and want to build up distance; the club no longer runs couch to 5K courses. Membership includes a cheaper Social Membership for those not interested in racing, which does not include individual England Athletics registration. Many members take part in the Leicestershire Road Running League and the Derby Runner Cross Country League. Visitors can run with the club without obligation before joining.
