Run club in Launceston
Launceston Road Runners is a club in Launceston, Cornwall, founded in 1989, which describes itself mainly as a social running club catering for all abilities from beginner upwards. Tuesday nights are group social runs of various distances and paces, and Thursday nights are structured coached training. Members take part in road and trail events from 5k to ultra distance, including the Cornish Grand Prix series.
Tuesday is a social run with groups covering roughly 3 to 8 miles at a range of speeds, usually returning to Firebrand shortly after 20:00; the home page gives the Tuesday meet time as 18:50 while the training page says 18:45 for a 19:00 start. Thursday is a structured training session (18:20 for an 18:30 start), with details published in the club newsletter; sessions are supervised by England Athletics-qualified coaches and run leaders. Starter groups for complete beginners run 0-5k over eight weeks at various times of year. Visitors may attend a couple of taster sessions before joining; membership is via a PDF form on the Join LRR page, payable by bank transfer, and includes Tuesday and Thursday club nights, a monthly newsletter, social events and affiliated race entry rates (ยฃ19 of the fee covers England Athletics affiliation). Hi-viz or reflective clothing is required at all sessions year-round, and head torches are compulsory in winter and dull conditions. Updates are posted on the website and Facebook page.
