About

Bude RATs (Run and Tri) is an amateur running club based in Bude, North Cornwall, established in 2008 and affiliated to England Athletics. It runs two evening sessions a week, a social group run on Tuesdays and a structured training session on Thursdays, with qualified run leaders. Members are encouraged to enter races across the South West, and the club organises its own events including the Bude Lifeboat Run, Bude Pirate Run and Talan's Notorious Trail.

Tuesday sessions are social runs split into up to three pace groups led by LiRF-qualified run leaders: roughly 9 minute mile (6-6.5 miles), 11 minute mile (5-5.5 miles) and 13 minute mile (4-4.5 miles); runners are expected to be able to run 4.5 miles in an hour. Thursday sessions are training focused, typically speed intervals or hill reps run at your own pace. Routes vary with the season, using off-road and coast path routes in summer and street-lit areas in winter; hi-viz and a head torch are required in autumn and winter. Newcomers can try four free sessions over an eight-week period before joining, and are asked to let the club know in advance. Membership is £12, or £32 including England Athletics registration (£20); membership forms are completed via SiEntries. Meeting locations and weekly session details are posted on the club's Facebook page. Contact: info@buderats.co.uk, membership@buderats.co.uk, club kit club.kit@buderats.co.uk.
