Run club in Tavistock
Tavistock AC is a community athletics club formed in 1985 with over 300 junior and senior members, based at the athletics track at Tavistock College in Devon. The senior section caters for all abilities, from complete non-runners to experienced athletes, across seven coached training groups. Sessions use the 400m track, local roads and Dartmoor, and the Tuesday evening session is described as the main club night and the best introduction to the club.
The senior section has seven coached groups arranged by ability, with structured sessions led by UKA-qualified leaders and overseen by UKA coaches; an Athletes Pathway page explains which group to join. Training uses the 400m track, local roads and Dartmoor, and membership also includes additional group training runs, long runs, strength and conditioning, circuit training and social runs. Members compete in cross country, road and off-road races and track and field, including the Devon Open Series, though competing is optional. To join, complete the membership enquiry form on the website (three trial sessions are offered in an appropriately paced group), then submit the senior membership form and pay by bank transfer (Tavistock AC, account 31262394, sort code 40-27-04, reference surname or URN). 2026 fees: single ยฃ90, family ยฃ75 per member, 2nd claim ยฃ70, associate A ยฃ35, associate B ยฃ58, life member ยฃ23, senior coach ยฃ50; fees include the ยฃ23 England Athletics affiliation in most cases and reduce progressively from 1 July.
