Run club in District of Gungahlin
Gungahlin Athletics Club (the "Gungahlin Geckos") is a not-for-profit community athletics club based at the Amaroo District Playing Fields in the ACT. Its main activity is Saturday "meets", where members work through a program of track and field athletics events aiming for personal bests, run on a roughly four-week rotating program through the summer season. Membership options range from social to competitive and the club states it caters for ages 3 to 93, including an Adult Community membership, so most participants are children and juniors with some adult members.
Saturday meets run at the Amaroo District Playing Fields, with the program for each meet published in the week beforehand and copies available at the ground by the equipment shed. Coached training sessions are held on Wednesday evenings from 18:00 to 19:00 during the season, organised by age group (U6 and above) and focused on track and field skills; attendance is optional and the club asks you to notify the coaching coordinator each week. Registered members aged 10 and over (excluding Adult Community members) can also enter Capital Athletics Summer and Winter Series meets at the Woden track or the Australian Institute of Sport, for a small extra fee or via an All Access Competition Membership, wearing the club uniform of a club top and black bottoms. Registration is handled through the RevSPORT system and results through ResultsHQ; contact details are on the club website. Capital Athletics (ACT) affiliated club.
