Run club in South Canberra
Running for Resilience is a Canberra-based community run club founded in 2019 with a suicide-prevention mission, aiming for a suicide-free ACT by 2033. It holds free weekly run, jog and walk events across several Canberra locations, with participants covering roughly 20 to 30 minutes at their own pace before staying for a drink and a chat. The Wednesday evening session at Kingston Foreshore is the flagship event and has regularly attracted large numbers of runners; the community now spans more than 2,000 people and has expanded beyond Canberra.
Events are free, self-paced and open to all, with no registration or membership required; participants choose their own pace and distance and can run, jog or walk. The core format is 20 to 30 minutes of movement followed by a drink and a conversation. Additional weekly runs not listed above include Tuesday 07:00 at the University of Canberra (during Semester 2), Friday 06:00 at Greenway, a Thursday 10:30 "Strolling for Resilience" walk at Kingston Foreshore, and a Monday evening 5km social run and walk around Lake Burley Griffin starting from the Lager House in Parkes. The organisation also runs separate non-running groups (yoga, trails, hiking, pickleball, SUP and snow) coordinated through WhatsApp groups, plus special events such as birthday runs, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve runs. Joining details, WhatsApp groups and a newsletter sign-up are on the club website. Capital Athletics (ACT) affiliated club.
