About

Cheddar Running Club is a volunteer-run, member-led club in Cheddar, Somerset, on the edge of the Mendip Hills, originally formed as Cheddar Valley Joggers in 1989. It is open to all abilities and distances from 5K to marathon and beyond. Weekly structured training focuses on running form and speed, alongside informal social and off-road runs.

Tuesday is the only structured session and is split into summer and winter formats: in summer the group meets at 18:50 on the grass track behind Kings Leisure Centre; in winter the group meets at 18:50 outside the entrance to the leisure centre to start at 19:00 and runs on roads around Cheddar, where a reflective hi-viz top and a small head torch are required. The winter Tuesday programme rotates monthly: hill reps, 1km reps, fartlek, then an interval session. Thursday sessions are informal and social, arranged between members, often off-road and sometimes including night running in winter, and may finish at a pub. Saturday is usually parkrun day at Cheddar parkrun (Sharpham Playing Fields), with members also attending Burnham-on-Sea, Street and Ashton Court. Additional informal weekend runs, usually off-road, are arranged occasionally and announced through club news and Facebook. Contact is by the website enquiry form or cheddarrunningclub@gmail.com. No membership or cost details are given on the site. England Athletics affiliated club.
