Run club in Cheadle
Cheadle Running Club is a club based in Cheadle, Staffordshire, running from South Moorlands Leisure Centre and now in its 40th year. It is open to members of all abilities and ages from twenty-somethings to seventy-somethings, with some competing in road, cross country and fell races and others running for fitness or leisure. On club runs the group splits into smaller groups based on ability and pace, and the site states no one is left behind.
Club runs take place on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, with members also meeting informally in smaller groups during the week. Routes include cross country and road running around Cheadle, plus lit routes around the town on winter nights. Members compete in local and national road races, the North Staffs Cross Country League and fell races, and the club stages the Cheadle Spring 5 in March, the Cheadle 4 in July, a veterans' invitation cross country in August and summer and winter handicap races for members. Newcomers can try the club runs for a month before joining. Membership is ยฃ40 per year, ยฃ22 for second claim members and ยฃ15 for social members, and applicants must be over 16; joining is via the membership application form on the website. Benefits listed include insurance on club runs, reduced race fees (ยฃ2 less for most races), sportswear discounts and social events.
