Run club in Alton
Alton Runners is a running club based in Alton, Hampshire, with members from Alton, Bordon, Holybourne, Four Marks, Binsted and surrounding villages. It welcomes runners of all abilities, from those getting fit to those chasing a parkrun personal best or training for a marathon. Club training runs twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, typically at Jubilee Fields and Anstey Park, and the club competes in the Hampshire Road Race League and the Southern Cross Country League.
Thursday evening sessions are split into ability or pace groups described as levels: Level 1 (5k/parkrun over 30 minutes), Level 2 (25-30 minutes), Level 3 (20-25 minutes) and Level 4 (under 20 minutes). Session types include intervals, hill training, tempo and T40, fartlek, Yasso 800s, pyramid hills, handicap runs and fun sessions such as the Banana Relay and Naked Run; a 1 mile time trial is held on the first Tuesday of each month, and on the third Thursday of the month there is a social run starting and finishing near a local pub. Venues rotate between Jubilee Playing Fields, Finnimore Pavilion at Anstey Park, Chawton Park Woods and nearby pubs, as set out in the published programme. Additional non-led sessions, which are not covered by club insurance, include a track session at Winchester Running Track (pay at the kiosk on the day) and a Sunday coffee run of about 10km. Members book sessions through the club's online booking page; new members join via the website's Join Us page, creating an account on alton-runners.clubtrac.co.uk, and there is a Contact Us page on the site. Membership fees are not stated. England Athletics affiliated club.
