Run club in Worthing
Worthing Gazelles is a member-led road and trail running club in West Sussex, formed from Goring Road Runners (founded 1984) after a merger and rebranding in 2023. It caters to a mixed range of ages, abilities and backgrounds, with all paces and fitness levels stated as welcome. Typical weeks include a Tuesday speed session (intervals, hill reps or similar), a Thursday social run from a pub with several route distances, and a Friday track session.
Sessions rotate around Worthing and nearby areas, with the weekly schedule published on the website including meeting point, parking and route details. Tuesday sessions are structured speed work (intervals, hill reps, 550m reps) led by a club coach or run leader, sometimes with guest coaches. Thursday runs are social, starting and finishing at a pub with typically three route options of about 6-13km, and members often stay for a drink afterwards. Friday track sessions at Worthing Leisure Centre run 18:30-19:30 and are free, with a led session available or the option to do your own. The club also takes part in West Sussex Fun Run League races and cross country, organises group trips to local parkruns, an annual Beer Mile for charity, a Christmas run to a food bank, and a Couch to 5K programme for newer runners. All coaches and run leaders are UKA-licensed and DBS checked. The club publishes annual financial accounts and puts issues to member votes; there is a committee including a membership secretary and welfare and safeguarding officer, contactable via the website's About Us page, and a "Get Involved" page for joining information. England Athletics affiliated club.
