Run club in Lancing
Lancing Eagles is a small running club based in Lancing, West Sussex, founded in 1986 and affiliated to England Athletics and the West Sussex Fun Run League. It welcomes runners aged 18 and over, from beginners to experienced performance runners. The main club night is Wednesday, when runners split into ability groups for routes of varying length and intensity, with road routes in winter and trail routes in summer.
Wednesday club nights meet inside Lancing Manor Leisure Centre at 18:40 for a 18:45 start, with four ability groups: The Fledglings (beginners, up to 4.5 miles with walk breaks), Group 3 intermediate (5-6 miles, 10:00-12:00 min/mile), Group 2 accomplished (6-7 miles, 8:30-9:30 min/mile) and Group 1 advanced (7-8 miles, 7:30-8:30 min/mile). Groups are led by a Group Run Leader and the club states no one is left behind. Once a month all groups combine for a relaxed social pub run of about 4 miles at the pace of the slowest group. Sunday mornings are a relaxed social or long run, usually ending with coffee and cake, with locations arranged via the club's Facebook and Strava pages. Speed training sessions ("Brian's Speed Training") are also offered. Members take part in parkrun, WSFRL races and other organised events. Club membership costs ยฃ15 per year, with optional England Athletics affiliation for a further ยฃ23; sign up online or contact the membership secretary at [email protected].
