Run club in Widnes
Widnes Wasps Ladies Running Club is a women-only club in Widnes, Halton, which has been running for over thirty years. It caters for beginners through to experienced runners, with a mix of road and trail running, racing and social events. Typical sessions include varied-distance club runs and speed, interval or hill work, with guided shorter runs for newcomers.
Tuesday sessions meet at 18:20 for an 18:30 start and cover various distances using the club's summer and winter route lists (route descriptions are shared on the members-only Facebook page and by email). Thursday sessions at 18:30 are inclusive speed, interval or hill sessions arranged weekly. Many members attend local parkruns on Saturday at 09:00 (Widnes, Knowsley, Phoenix, St Helens, Warrington, Princes Park) and some do longer runs on Sundays. Beginners should speak to a committee member or a nominated guide on arrival; guides accompany new runners for 1-3 miles or up to an hour at the runner's own pace, including walking. New runners can trial club sessions for up to six weeks before joining. Membership is ยฃ40 for affiliated members and ยฃ20 for social/non-affiliated, second claim or part-year members, covering 1 April to 31 March, payable by cash, cheque or bank transfer; forms are handed to the Club Secretary.
