Run club in London
Thames Hare & Hounds is a long-established running and cross country club that has run on Wimbledon Common since 1868. It has men's and women's teams competing in cross country, road and relay events, alongside regular club sessions from the Wimbledon Common clubhouse and at Battersea Park. Typical runs are five to ten miles around Wimbledon Common, or structured interval sessions in Battersea Park.
Wednesday club runs meet at the Wimbledon Common clubhouse at 19:00 and set off at 19:30, typically covering five to ten miles, with showers and changing at the clubhouse and a trip to the Green Man pub afterwards (or a clubhouse curry on the first Wednesday of the month); these runs are organised through a WhatsApp group, contact Mike Farmery to be added. Tuesday interval sessions run on the road loop at Battersea Park, or on the grass pitches in summer, structured around cross country in autumn/winter and road racing in spring/summer; group abilities range from 15 to 25 minutes for 5k and non-members are included, with runners asked to contact Eliot Nevill (WhatsApp +447881-662-676 / eliotnevill[at]gmail.com) before attending. The Second Sunday 5 miler takes place from the clubhouse on the second Sunday of each month at 09:30, free to club members, with entries on the day or via www.secondsunday5.com or data.opentrack.run; spikes or trail shoes are advised in winter and tea and muffins are provided afterwards. The club also competes in cross country, including the Surrey League and London Championships, and hosts the Parkland Relays and the Oxford-Cambridge University Cross-Country Races.
