About

Stowmarket Striders is a road running club in Suffolk with around 250 members aged 7 to 70+ and all abilities, from beginners to experienced athletes. Adult training is coach-led twice a week, with additional summer trail runs and winter cross country sessions. New runners of any ability are welcome at any session.

Year-round coach-led training runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, led by UK Athletics qualified club coaches, with sessions adapted to different abilities. Tuesday senior sessions are structured training from 19:00 at Chilton Fields Sports Ground; Thursday is a coach-led threshold/tempo session from 19:30 at Chilton Fields Sports Club. From May to early September members also meet on Wednesday evenings at 18:00 at a local pub for social off-road Suffolk trail runs of 4 to 6 miles (see the Summer Trail Run Diary). From October to March there is cross country training on Sunday mornings at Haughley Park, starting at 09:00, meeting about 200m inside the main gate on the right. Membership details and an online application are on the site, and free trial sessions are offered; to try a session email membership@stowmarketstriders.org.uk. Members are encouraged to enter local races, relay events and Suffolk Championships, and the club hosts a Suffolk Winter League cross country race at Haughley Park. England Athletics affiliated club.
