Run club in Banbury
Silson AC (formerly Silson Joggers AC, founded 1976) is an England Athletics affiliated running club serving Silverstone, Towcester and surrounding villages. It describes itself as friendly and inclusive, catering both for runners who want to train in a group and for those seeking competition. Structured sessions are led by UKA qualified coaches and Leaders in Running Fitness, with members split into ability groups, plus a relaxed weekly social run.
Two coached sessions run each week in winter: a structured session of intervals, speed-work or hills on Wednesdays at 18:30 at Silverstone Circuit from September to April, switching to Fridays at 18:30 at Stowe School Athletics Track from April to July, with ad-hoc sessions in August. A member-organised social run takes place on Sunday mornings, covering 8-10 miles on a mix of road and trail, often ending with refreshments; details of each week's run are posted in the club's Facebook group. A monthly training schedule is published in advance. The club suggests the level is suitable for anyone who can run a parkrun 5k, and newcomers are invited to attend a couple of trial sessions by contacting the club by email first. Annual 2026/27 membership is ยฃ30 for senior members (18+), including ยฃ21 England Athletics affiliation; membership renews on 1 April. To join, download the membership form from the website and email it to silsonmembership@gmail.com, after which the Membership Secretary sends a link for online payment. The club is run on a not-for-profit basis and organises the annual Silverstone Grand Prix 10k. England Athletics affiliated club.
