About

Shetland Amateur Athletics Club (SAAC) is an athletics club covering the Shetland Isles and based at the athletics track at the Clickimin Leisure Complex in Lerwick. It caters for all age groups from grassroots to performance level, with adult and senior athletes training in event groups and an endurance group. Sessions are track-based and run alongside the club's competition programme.

Training for the summer season takes place at the Clickimin Track. Adult and senior athletes train in the U17+ event groups (Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 18:00–19:30), with a separate endurance group on Wednesday 18:00–19:00; earlier slots on those evenings are for junior age groups. The club is affiliated to Scottish Athletics and has over 200 members. A waiting list is in operation: to join the waiting list or one of the event groups, send a message through the contact form on the site, including an email address, and the Membership Secretary will reply. The club also organises competitions including Open Graded Meets (entries via EntryCentral), a Spring Open, cross country and the Simmer Dim Half Marathon.
