Orkney Athletic and Running Club (OARC) is an Orkney-based athletics and running club formed in 2021 from the merger of Orkney Athletic Club and Orkney Running Club, with charitable (SCIO) status. It has over 150 members across track, field and road disciplines, split between junior members (9–17) and senior members (18+). Senior endurance sessions are based at the Pickaquoy Centre track in Kirkwall and typically involve 5–10k of running aimed at road, trail and long-distance track runners.
Senior endurance running is led by the club's Coach in Running Fitness and usually covers 5–10k in some format or pattern; athletes meet at the back doors to the Pickaquoy track at 18:00 on Wednesdays. Senior training runs year round with short breaks in October and December. Senior session payment is pay-as-you-go by bank transfer at £3 per session for members and £5 for non-members, or a package payment of £40 on top of membership covering the April–April membership year. Senior membership (18+) is available via the Become a Member section of the site, and the club also has Couch to 5k coaches (Carrie Gunn and Sarah Finn). Club bank details for transfers are sort code 80-22-60, account number 23187767, Orkney Athletic and Running Club. Trustees, including the Seniors Representative, can be contacted for club matters.
