North Highland Harriers is a running club based in Caithness for runners of all abilities aged 18 and over, covering road, trail, cross country and hill running. Training sessions are held in both Thurso and Wick, with runs across Caithness and Sutherland. Tuesday and Thursday squad sessions are coach-led interval and speed work, with separate beginners groups on Mondays.
Tuesday and Thursday evening training sessions meet at Riverside Carpark in Wick and the Black Hut on Janet Street in Thurso, both at 17:25, and follow structured sessions such as warm-up, timed intervals at 5k or 10k pace with jog or walk recoveries, and a warm down; runners are told to work at their own pace and ask coaches or leaders questions. Stage 1 beginners groups led by qualified jog leaders started on Monday 12 January 2026, meeting at Wick Youth Club (18:00) and Thurso Squash Club (17:30), starting with 30-second jogs; both returning and new beginners are welcome. Beginners are asked to read and bring the physical activity questionnaire, bring written emergency contact and medical details, and register free with Jog Scotland either before attending or after trying a couple of sessions. The club posts last-minute session information on its Facebook page, and lists cross-country and other event fixtures on the site. scottishathletics affiliated club.
