Run club in Reading
Reading Roadrunners is a running club based at Palmer Park Stadium in Reading, open to members of all abilities and described as one of the largest clubs in the South of England. Members compete in individual and team events on and off the road, with coaching from qualified coaches and leaders in running fitness. Sessions include coached track training at Palmer Park and a midweek social run at varying locations around Reading.
Training is at Palmer Park track on Wednesday (two coached sessions, 17:00 and 18:30) and Friday (18:30โ19:30), plus a Thursday 18:30 social run and chat of 5.5โ6 miles lasting about an hour at a variety of locations in the Reading area. Prospective and returning lapsed members cannot simply turn up on a club training night; they must first register for an Induction Trial session, which covers a brief club history, the track rules and a 30โ40 minute taster session with a qualified coach. Joining details and social event bookings are handled through the club's MyClubhouse page. The club is affiliated to the South of England Athletic Association, UK Athletics and England Athletics, so members avoid the unattached levy at races run under UKA rules, and the club funds entry to several events such as the Hampshire League Cross Country. After Wednesday training the Reading AC Clubhouse opens for refreshments. Contact for welfare matters: welfareofficer@readingroadrunners.org; general contact via the website contact page. England Athletics affiliated club.
