Run club in Wokingham
Finch Coasters is a small, England Athletics affiliated running club based at the FBC Centre in Finchampstead, Wokingham, covering the surrounding area from Arborfield to Bracknell and Winnersh to Crowthorne. It describes itself as friendly and inclusive and caters for all abilities and distances, from beginner to national level. Members take part in club runs during the week as well as local road races, relays, cross-country events, handicap races and social events.
Weekly club runs are open to Finch Coasters members, with routes varying by time of year and published via the members Facebook group and a weekly newsletter (route PDFs are on the site). Monday is a 5km run described as suitable for all abilities and a good starting point for beginners; Tuesday is a 10km run with a speed session on the first Tuesday of each month; Thursday is a longer 6km or 10km run, off road with hill training in summer and on roads in winter; Friday mornings are structured training sessions run by Vicki for which fees apply. Monday and Tuesday runs currently start from Buckhurst Meadows Carpark, William Heelas Way, Wokingham, while Thursday and Friday start from the FBC Centre, Finchampstead. Members also attend parkrun on Saturdays at 09:00 and there are ad-hoc Sunday runs plus Thames Valley Cross Country League races in winter. Club policy is that no one is left at the back of a run.
