Newport and District RC

Newport and District Running Club (NDRC) is a running club based in Newport, Telford & Wrekin, Shropshire, founded in 1982 and affiliated to England Athletics. Most members live in Newport or the surrounding parts of Staffordshire, Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire. The main club night is Wednesday, with five pace groups ranging from a 3-5 mile walk/run group to a 6-10 mile group at 6-7 min/mile.

Wednesday club runs are split into five groups: Orange 3-5 miles (walk/run), Green 4-5 miles (11-12 min/mile), Blue 5-6 miles (9-10 min/mile), Purple 6-7 miles (7-8 min/mile) and Red 6-10 miles (6-7 min/mile). Runners are expected to be able to cover the distance of the group they join, and newcomers are asked to contact the club before attending. The club occasionally runs courses for new runners, after which participants can join the Green group. Routes vary weekly and run leaders use loop-back points so no one is left behind; high-visibility clothing and a head or chest torch are required in winter. Members may also join track sessions at Telford Athletic Club, Oakengates, every other Monday 18:45-20:00, organised by Lawley Running Club, at £3 per person paid in cash on the night, or covered by the club for members.
