Newcastle Flyers Runners Club

Newcastle Flyers Runners Club is a running club in Newcastle, New South Wales, with members who run on road, trail and track over distances from 800m to ultras. It holds Tuesday interval sessions at Fearnley Dawes Athletic Centre and Federal Park, a Sunday long run from Merewether Surf House, and recovery runs on other weekdays. Over 120 runners receive regular coaching emails, and groups train together most Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays with a range of abilities.

Membership is $45.00 for the standard package, running on a calendar year from 1 January to 31 December (sign-ups after 1 October run through to December the following year); an option to join Athletics NSW as a package with Flyers membership is also offered, and both are signed up through buttons on the Join Newcastle Flyers page. Membership includes the Sunday long run, weekly coaching emails describing interval sessions (sessions overseen by a Level 2 coach), the parkrun Handicap Series, club championships, access to the Flyers Strava club and membership portal, and an age-based personal best register. Tuesday interval groups are listed with named session contacts: Los Federales at Federal Park, plus Informal Blue Track and Blue Track sessions at Fearnley Dawes Athletic Centre, where track entry fees start from $5 with memberships available; Federal Park, a grass 400m track, is free to the public. Other benefits include social events, an end-of-year awards function (small cost for venue and catering), special training events including a training weekend, and club shirts purchased separately.
