Run club in Newcastle
Macquarie Hunter Athletics Club, known as Mac Hunter, is a track and field club based at the Hunter Sports Centre in Glendale, New South Wales. It was formed in 2008 from the merger of Macquarie Shores Athletics and Hunter Track & Field, and caters for Little Athletics (Tots to 12s), junior athletes (13s to U20s), senior athletes (Opens to Masters), multiclass athletes of all ages and social athletes aged 17 and over. The main adult activity is the weekly Friday night club carnival during the track and field season, where athletes compete in a programme of running, track and field events.
The track and field season runs from September to March. A weekly club carnival is held on Friday nights from 17:30 to 21:00, with staggered start times for little athletes and junior/senior athletes; younger age groups follow a four-event programme and older age groups a five-event programme. A multiclass carnival for athletes with a disability runs on Saturday mornings between 09:00 and 10:30. A weekly training session on Wednesday evenings is for little athletes only. Registrations open on 1 August and are handled through the club's online registration pages; the site also lists coaching, uniforms, a handbook, club policies and a season calendar. The club relies on volunteers and welcomes offers of help. Contact details are on the club website, which also links to its Facebook and Instagram pages. NSW Athletics affiliated club.
