Marlborough Running Club — a run club in Marlborough. England Athletics affiliated club. Activities: cross country, hill fell, road running, trail running.
Two regular training sessions each week, both usually starting from Marlborough Leisure Centre, though some runs are planned to start elsewhere. Monday is an improvers' session, shorter than Wednesday and usually including speed work such as track, hills, fartlek and segment sessions, plus some gentler 5km runs; meet from 18:45 and set off at 19:00. Wednesday runs are longer, up to an hour and a half, in groups according to speed with chances to regroup. Runs are typically 5-10 miles and cover road, trail and cross-country ground around the Marlborough Downs, Savernake Forest and the Ridgeway; reflective tops and head torches are advised for winter running. Members also support Marlborough Common parkrun, both running and volunteering, with a club takeover roughly twice a year. Membership costs £15 for new members (including an MRC t-shirt or vest) and £10 annual renewal, due 1st April; training sessions are free and members may use the changing and showering facilities at Marlborough Leisure Centre on training evenings. The club is affiliated to UK Athletics, England Athletics and the Association of Running Clubs, and members are asked to help marshal or organise club races. Visitors and guests may join training sessions without becoming members first.
