Run club in Maidenhead
Maidenhead Athletic Club is an athletics club with senior and junior sections, based at its own clubhouse next to the cinder track in Braywick Park. The senior section meets year-round for track work, road running and longer Sunday runs, and takes part in road races, cross-country and track and field. Wednesday and Sunday runs start and finish at the clubhouse, with tea, cake and a chat afterwards.
Senior sessions are for ages 16 and over. Tuesday is a coached interval session led by qualified UKA coaches, usually at the 6-lane cinder track with a choice of long reps or short reps, and hill sessions pre-advised roughly every six weeks; runners arrive from 18:00 for a self-guided warm-up, the coach briefing is at 18:15, the main session runs 18:25-19:05, latecomers are integrated between 18:30 and 18:45, and training after 19:15 is unsupervised. Wednesday is a road run of 4-7 miles from the clubhouse, with a briefing from the Routemaster at 18:30, a start between 18:40 and 18:45, and the group staying together for the first kilometre under the club motto "No-one gets left behind". Sunday is a long slow run with route options from 6-16 miles, and up to 20 miles during spring marathon training, briefing at 08:30 and start between 08:35 and 08:45. Sessions run weekly unless advised by club email or the MAC Announcements WhatsApp group. Visitors staying in Maidenhead for work or training may join regular meets free of charge; see the guest information. Membership is handled through the Membership link on the site, with the membership secretary at membership@maidenheadac.org, the road running captain at roadrunning@maidenheadac.org, and a general enquiry form on the website.
