About

Liss Runners is a running club founded in 1986, based in Liss on the Hampshire/West Sussex border within the South Downs National Park. It has around 200 members drawn from Liss, Petersfield, Bordon and surrounding villages, and welcomes all abilities and ages. Activities range from social runs to structured training and competitive racing.

Weekly running includes Tuesday "Torch" runs, Wednesday interval training, a Thursday social run and a Sunday long slow run, plus track sessions in the summer and pub runs in summer. Sessions are led by a team of club trainers under training leader Helen Purchase. The club competes at open races and parkruns, in the Hampshire Road Race League and Southern Cross Country League, and runs its own summer handicap race series; it also hosts the Harting 10 trail race. New members are accepted at any time; the membership year runs 1 April to 31 March, and anyone joining after 1 January has the period to 1 April included in their first year's fee. Prospective members may come along for a couple of trial sessions before joining, then register and pay via the club's Teamo app. Membership for under-18s requires a parent or legal guardian to also be a member. Club policies include a winter training policy: members attending sessions in the dark without high-visibility clothing may not be able to participate. Contact is via the enquiry form on the website, or Facebook and Instagram (liss_runners). England Athletics affiliated club.
