Kippax & District Harriers

Kippax & District Harriers is a small running club founded in 1983, based at Garforth Leisure Centre in Leeds and affiliated to England Athletics. The main club night is Tuesday, when groups head out on routes of roughly 5 to 7 miles, with longer options available. The club also holds social pub runs, handicap races and enters events from PECO Cross Country to 10Ks, half marathons and marathons.

Members meet in the leisure centre car park at 19:15 on Tuesdays and set off at 19:30; regulars plan the routes each week. The last club night of each month is a track session or hill work. New members are advised to be comfortable running 4 to 5 miles in about an hour; those building up can take the annual 12-week beginners course, usually starting in April, which runs Tuesday evenings at 19:15, is led by qualified run leaders (LIRFs) and costs £25, ending with a target event such as the Leeds 10k and a graduation social. Membership costs £38 a year for full (first claim), £20 for second claim and £15 for social, and includes England Athletics affiliation with insurance and reduced race entry fees, race and local business discounts, and access to a club London Marathon place.
