Hoad Hill Harriers is a running club in Ulverston, Cumbria, established in 1987 and based at Ulverston Park Sports Club. It has over 160 senior members, around half social runners and half competitive, and is affiliated to England Athletics and the Mid Lancs Cross Country League. Monday nights are group social runs on roads and lanes (or off-road routes from varied locations in the lighter months), and Thursday nights are coached rep sessions.
Monday social runs have three groups leaving at 19:00 after meeting from 18:45, covering 4-8 miles: a fast group at about 9-minute miling, a medium group with catch-up stops at about 10-minute miling, and slower groups at 11-12 minute miling over 4-6 miles, with a slower 3-4 mile option also arranged. Runs are led by run leaders, coaches and volunteers; high-vis clothing and a head torch are required in winter, and members are asked to carry ICE (In Case of Emergency) details. In the lighter months Monday runs start from varying locations announced weekly on the club Facebook group, with car sharing available; the first Monday of each month starts from the Sports Club. Thursday sessions are coached rep sessions from 19:00 at the clubhouse in two groups (faster runners and the rest), tailored for new runners, using lit areas such as Siemens Industrial Estate, GSK Memorial Gardens or Ford Park in winter and the Sports Club fields in summer. A Monday circuit training session (non-running) runs 18:10-18:40 in the Sports Hall for £1 in winter. Membership options and benefits are set out in the Join section; the club also runs a Couch to 5K programme, an internal championship series and its own races. Members are over 18. Contact: enquiries@hoadhillharriers.co.uk, or ask a committee member or coach at the club, or message the club Facebook page. Changing rooms, showers, toilets and parking are available at the clubhouse. England Athletics affiliated club.
