Highland Hill Runners is a hill running club based in Inverness. Sessions are off-road and include weekly evening training with efforts or hill reps, a monthly "Thirdsday" event, and social runs around the Highlands. The club also runs social weekends away and organises solstice and full moon runs.
Tuesday night training leaves Whin Park at 18:00, with others meeting at the training location; sessions usually head towards Craig Dunain for efforts or hill reps, and all training is off-road, so a headtorch is needed in winter. From October to March, "Thirdsday" is held on the third Thursday of each month: a self-timed off-road 5k with 70m of ascent at Daviot Woods, which can be completed at any time of day, with times picked up by Strava segment or posted on the club Facebook page or given to Dougie Macdonald. From April to September the Thirdsday format is uphill racing at a different hill each month (Cioch Mhor, Beinn Bhuide Mor, Fyrish, Meall nan Uan, Gael Charn Mor, Meall a'Bhuachaille) with handicapped start times so runners reach the top together, followed by a social descent. Strength and conditioning sessions and social runs are also organised. Session details are shared via the members' WhatsApp group and email.
