Run club in Haslemere
Haslemere Border AC (HBAC) is a community running and athletics club based at Woolmer Hill Sports Association in Haslemere, Surrey, founded in 1959. It caters for runners of all abilities, splitting into three ability groups across midweek speed sessions and a Saturday fun run. The club also has a young athletes section and hosts the Gibbet Hill 10K and Punchbowl Challenge races.
Tuesday sessions are speed work and intervals with three pace groups; Thursday sessions are speed work, intervals or group runs with two pace groups; both use track sessions in summer and road sessions in winter, with the location published on the club calendar. Saturday is a fun run at the Devil's Punch Bowl, Hindhead, with around three groups covering roughly 5km to 8km at comfortable paces, sometimes including hill reps or technical sessions; no booking is needed, just turn up, and trail shoes are advised. Training groups are: Group 1 beginners at 10-12 min/mile for 30-45 minutes; Group 2 intermediate at 8-10 min/mile for 45-60 minutes; Group 3 advanced at under 8 min/mile for 60+ minutes. Other regular meeting locations include Woolmer Hill Sports Association, Headley Road Car Park in Grayshott, and the Tesco Superstore at Lion Green, Haslemere. The club runs a Get Up and Run programme and C25K support, races in the Surrey Cross Country League from October to March, and holds the Bowlhead Green Handicap Challenge in June.
