Run club in Harwich
Harwich Runners is a running club founded in 1982, based at the Harwich & Dovercourt Rugby Club in Dovercourt, Essex. It has over 150 members and caters for all ability levels, from first-time runners and those returning to running to athletes competing at regional, national and international level. Training takes place on Tuesday evenings, with up to three different sessions running at the same time so members can pick the one that suits them.
There is one training night, Tuesday, with up to three separate sessions of varying disciplines supervised by a rota of experienced coaches; sessions vary week to week, include a warm-up and cool-down, and take place in different locations around Dovercourt and Harwich, so hi-viz clothing is advised. No booking is needed, and members meet at 18:15 for club notices before the 18:30 start, usually finishing around 19:30. Newcomers can come along on any Tuesday for a trial and may attend two or three times before deciding to join. Senior membership costs £20 a year (including an Association of Running Clubs licence) with no weekly subs; junior membership (Saturday only) is £12. Membership is applied for and renewed online through the SPOND app, which is also used to notify training plans. Benefits include ARC affiliation, reduced race entry fees, discounted British Triathlon race licences, retailer discounts and a free tea or coffee at the clubhouse after sessions. The club welfare officer is Kevin Fitchett, and questions can be sent by email through the website. England Athletics affiliated club.
