Run club in Trafalgar
Gippsland Athletics Club, founded in 1955, is a community athletics club in the Gippsland region of Victoria, affiliated with Athletics Victoria. It holds weekly track and field competition on Tuesday evenings from October to March at the Joe Carmody Athletics Track in Newborough, with age groups from Under 14 through to Masters. The club describes itself as small and friendly and says people of all abilities are welcome, including recreational runners.
The track season runs from early October to late February/March, with the first event each Tuesday starting at 18:00. Competition covers track and field events with age groups from Under 14 up to Masters (40+), and season points scoring plus an annual pentathlon. Membership is arranged through the Athletics Victoria portal and is made up of an Athletics Victoria fee plus a club fee of $55 for seniors and $35 for juniors; a base Athletics Victoria membership is enough to compete with the club and at the Victorian Country Championships. Additional Athletics Victoria packages are available for winter cross country and AVSL competition. First-time athletes may trial twice free of charge (arriving before 6pm) before joining, and visiting Athletics Victoria registered athletes can compete for $2.00 per meet, paid before competition starts.
