Run club in Oliver
Desert Valley Running Club is a volunteer-run, registered non-profit road and trail running club serving the South Okanagan communities of Osoyoos, Oliver, Keremeos and Rock Creek in British Columbia. Formed in 2020, it offers weekly beginner-friendly group runs, Learn-to-Run courses, run challenges and seasonal trail outings. A typical session is a 5K social run from a local cafe, followed by an optional coffee and chat.
Weekly group runs are 5K and beginner-friendly, alternating between The Ditch Cafe in Oliver and Junction 3 Coffeehouse in Osoyoos, with an optional coffee and chat afterwards; for The Ditch Cafe runs the group meets at the Kinsman Spray Park in Oliver because of limited parking at the cafe. Sunday runs start at 09:00, moving earlier (08:00) in summer, and additional evening runs from Backroads Brewing in Osoyoos are scheduled through the summer. The club also arranges seasonal beginner-friendly trail runs at Manning Park in spring and summer, where participants walk the uphills and run the descents and flats, with mandatory gear sent out in advance and no cost beyond personal expenses. A Desert Valley Running Club membership, which includes a BC Athletics membership, is required to take part for insurance purposes; membership also gives discounts with local sponsors including a gym, cafes, a brewery, a chiropractor and a running shop. Updates are posted on the club's Instagram and Facebook pages, and contact details are on the club website. Athletics Canada affiliated club (via AthleticsReg; Road Running).
