Run club in Penticton
Penticton Pounders Running Club is a road and trail running club in the south Okanagan of British Columbia, formed in 1981, with around 100-150 annual members. It runs weekly group sessions on roads, trails and the track, and hosts road and trail races plus social events such as bowling nights, brunches, a summer BBQ and an awards night. Typical runs last one to two hours in one of three groups: trail, road or interval/speed.
The club has three weekly running groups: the Suck it Up Buttercup trail group (leader Neil Macdonald), the Twisted Blisters road group (leader Gwyn Pociluyko) and the Thursday interval/speed group (leader Hillary Ward). Run lengths range from about 1 hour to 2 hours and the club says it accommodates a variety of terrain and training levels, welcoming both new and experienced runners. Meeting locations vary week to week and are posted on the club's Facebook group; the interval group also has a Strava club. Start times shown on the site differ between the summer and regular schedules (for July/August 2026 the interval group meets at 06:00 at Skaha Lake Park), so check the weekly runs page or Facebook for current times. Runners must be paid annual members to take part (online membership listed at $44.22, which includes BC Athletics liability cover); prospective runners complete the form on the weekly runs page and a group leader invites them to a run. Runs are cancelled if the forecast temperature is 32C or higher or the AQHI is 7 or higher, with notices posted on Facebook. Further contact details are on the club website.
