Derwent AC Cockermouth โ a run club in Cockermouth. England Athletics affiliated club. Activities: cross country, hill fell, road running, trail running.
Full club training runs twice weekly on Tuesday and Thursday at 18:30, with a typical session lasting 60-70 minutes including a warm up and cool-down stretching. Session types vary and include longer runs, sprint training, intervals and hill sessions; the summer plan covers track sessions at Cockermouth School, road sessions in and around Cockermouth and off-road sessions in the Western Lake District. The training calendar is on the Spond app (join code TSVRD) and members tell the coach via Spond whether they are attending; weekly sessions are also posted on the club's Facebook and Instagram pages. The last Thursday of each month is a social run leaving Jennings Brewery at 18:30 with a drink or food afterwards, and there are summer and Christmas handicap runs with socials. Off-road routes have kit requirements: suitable running attire and footwear for low-risk routes in good conditions, and waterproof whole-body cover, hat, gloves, whistle and a torch (outside summer) for all other routes; high-visibility clothing and a head torch are needed for winter sessions. There are no facilities at sessions, and runners are asked not to park in the Leisure Centre car park but on Isel Road, St Helens Street or Castlegate Drive. Club enquiries: secretary@derwentac.com.
