Run club in Woking
Cruisers Running Club (CRC) is a UK Athletics affiliated club based in Woking, running in the Wey valley and Surrey heathland. Most runs start from the Woking Leisure Centre car park and cover both off-road and road routes. Members range from those racing marathons, triathlons and shorter distances to people who run mainly for fitness and company.
Regular group runs are on Tuesday and Thursday at 19:00. Summer Tuesdays are a 10k group run, usually off-road, splitting into faster and slower groups when numbers allow, with a shorter option for the slower group; winter Tuesdays alternate between hill reps at Ashwood Road and intervals around Woking Park. Thursday is a 10k group run year round. A Saturday run at 09:30 with the chairman can be arranged by emailing in advance. Extras include 4-mile Pyle Hill handicap runs on the third Tuesday or Wednesday of each month from April to September (meeting at the top of Westfield Avenue near David Lloyd and the football stadium), off-site summer runs at Chobham Common, Newlands Corner and Swinley Forest, winter track evenings at the Sportsbox track on some Wednesdays, a 10-mile Train 2 Train run from Ash Vale back to Woking, a May memorial run, and inter-club pub quizzes. The club says it is best suited to runners already comfortable with 5k. New members can turn up or email ahead; the first few sessions are free.
