Run club in Wimborne
Wimborne Athletic Club is an athletics club founded in 1984, covering track and field, cross country and road running for people aged eight and over in Wimborne and the surrounding area. Adult members train alongside the club's junior sections and can compete for the club at senior level. The site describes the club as family-oriented, with training sessions across all athletic disciplines.
Training sessions are supervised by England Athletics accredited coaches and run leaders; the website lists training times on a separate Training Times page not reproduced here, and suggests contacting a coach if you are unsure which group suits you. Road running members compete in the Dorset Road Race League, Dorset County Championships and the Upton House Summer Series, plus an internal club championship; cross country teams run in the Wessex and Hampshire Leagues, and track and field teams in the Southern Athletic League, South West League, Wessex Young Athletes League and Youth Development League. To join, attend a session as a taster, complete an individual or family membership form online or by PDF, and send it to the membership secretary with payment by bank transfer, card or cheque. The fee includes England Athletics affiliation and covers equipment, insurance, coach training, league entries and venue hire; the club also charges track fees at training sessions. Membership benefits include free entry to cross country and track and field events, discounted road race entries, and kit discounts at Running Free, Up and Running and X-miles. A club vest, available from the club shop, is required for competition. The club organises the Wimborne 10 road race (Sunday 15 November 2026). England Athletics affiliated club.
