Run club in Wadhurst
Wadhurst Runners is a running club in East Sussex, formed in 1999 and now with over 100 members, who are known as "Waddies". Members range from social runners to those competing in the Sussex Grand Prix series and the East Sussex Sunday Cross Country League. Regular club runs start from the Uplands Sports Centre car park in Wadhurst, with an additional midweek morning group meeting at Bedgebury.
Three weekly training runs are offered: Tuesday 19:15 and Sunday 09:00 from Uplands Sports Centre car park, and Wednesday 09:30 at Bedgebury. Members also gather at the Bedgebury Pinetum parkrun on Saturdays at 09:00. The club runs a Couch to 5k course led by an England Athletics accredited coach and volunteers, with the next course starting in October 2026. Competitive options include the Sussex Grand Prix and the East Sussex Sunday Cross Country League (season fee ยฃ12 for six races for club members, or ยฃ6 entry on the day, plus ยฃ2 insurance for non-affiliated runners). The club organises the annual Bewl 15 and 5 mile races and receives one ballot place for the London Marathon each year. New runners can try a couple of sessions before joining. Membership for 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027 is ยฃ42 affiliated (includes England Athletics registration) or ยฃ20 non-affiliated; members joining between 1 January and 31 March get membership extended to 31 March of the following year.
