Run club in Montréal
Club Les Vainqueurs is a Montréal running and athletics club founded in April 1982 by coach Jean-Yves Cloutier, with members aged 3 to 93 split into a youth section and an adult section. The adult road-running section welcomes runners of all ages and abilities who want to improve and work towards goals on the road, on the track or in trail races. Typical adult sessions are coached interval workouts on the Étienne-Desmarteau athletics track, with runners grouped into five packs covering 14 ability levels.
The adult road-running section groups runners of all ages and levels, with track interval sessions organised into 14 levels across five separate packs, supervised by coaches Samuel Hébert and Claude Beaudet, using a method created by founder Jean-Yves Cloutier (author of "Courir au Bon Rythme"). Training runs from late April to mid-November on the Étienne-Desmarteau track; adults meet at the finish line near Rue Beaubien, and sessions start at 18:30 exactly, with arrival recommended 15 minutes earlier to allow for parking. Newcomers get one free trial session: arrive around 18:15, a coach takes attendance, places you in the right group and hands out a registration form. Registration follows the first session, with fees payable by Interac transfer, cheque or cash according to the session length chosen (10, 20 or 30 weeks). Sessions are not cancelled for bad weather; bring a change of clothes. The club is affiliated with the Fédération Québécoise d'Athlétisme and is the recognised athletics organisation for the Étienne-Desmarteau track. Further contact details are on the club website. Athletics Canada affiliated club (via AthleticsReg; Cross Country, Long Distance, Middle distance, Road Running).
