Run club in Teddington
The Stragglers Running Club is a community running club founded in 1981 and based at Bushy Park Sports Club, serving Teddington, Kingston, Hampton and Thames Ditton. It has over 500-600 members of all ages and abilities, from newcomers to competitive runners, with about 100 attending on Thursday club nights. Sessions are grouped by pace, and the club also fields teams in cross-country and road leagues and organises its own races.
Thursday is the main club night at Bushy Park Sports Club, with several sessions at different speeds and changing rooms, showers and food/drink available afterwards; runners register in advance online to run and book food. Training groups are organised by pace bands: A (sub 18 min 5k), B (18-21), C (21-25), D (25-30) and E (30+). Coaching is provided by Kev Best and Sophie Biggs (CiRF Level 2). The club runs an 8-week Couch to 5K programme for absolute beginners, free to join, with two coached sessions a week (Tuesday 19:00 at Giggs Hill Green, Thames Ditton and Thursday 19:00 at Bushy Park Sports Club) plus one self-directed weekend run; the 2026 course starts on Tuesday 21 April and sign-up is via the website, with Andy Howarth (andy.howarth31@hotmail.com) as contact. Membership is available through the Join/Become a Member pages, and there is a contact form on the site. The club enters Surrey cross-country and road leagues, championship races and mob matches, and organises events including the Wedding Day 7k, Green Belt Relay, River Relay and Cabbage Patch 10.
