Run club in Ararat
Stawell & Ararat Cross Country Club Inc. is a Victorian cross country club founded in 1967 for runners of all ages and abilities. Each season it stages 19 club runs over distances from 3km to 10km at parkland venues around the district, including Ararat, Moyston, Rhymney, Warrak, Great Western and Stawell. Races use a handicap system so that runners of any pace can win, with the club emphasising health, fitness and participation rather than pure competition.
The season consists of 19 handicap club runs of 3km to 10km at rotating parkland courses; the 2026 season began on Sunday 12 April, with membership opening on 7 April 2026. Each week the first finisher receives a sash and trophy and prize money is paid for the first three places ($50, $25, $15). An RFID timing system was introduced in 2026 for faster, more accurate results. A separate junior competition over 1km or 3km runs from 2 August. New members are welcome and registration and contact details are on the club website; the club is run by volunteers. Athletics Victoria recreational running club.
