Run club in New Westminster
Royal City Track & Field Club (RCTFC) is a non-profit amateur athletics club based in New Westminster, British Columbia, serving the surrounding communities of Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. It is primarily a development club covering runs, jumps and throws on the track plus cross country running, with structured groups for Track Rascals (6-8), Junior Development (9-13) and athletes aged 14 and older. Older athletes train in discipline-specific groups arranged directly with their coaches, and club members compete at provincial and national championships.
Training runs in seasons: the outdoor track season runs from roughly late March/early April to mid-July, and a cross country season has previously started in early September at Caribou Park in Burnaby (10th Avenue and Caribou Road) with sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays, 17:30 to 19:00, open to athletes aged 9 and older and included in the annual membership. Athletes aged 14 and older arrange specific training times and dates directly with their coaches depending on discipline, and newcomers in this age group are asked to make contact before registering. Membership is bought through an online registration link on the club website and includes a BC Athletics fee set by BC Athletics and Athletics Canada; a fall-only cross country membership was previously offered at $150. Competition calendars, practice schedules and a parent/athlete handbook are published on the website, and contact details are on the club website. Athletics Canada affiliated club (via AthleticsReg; Cross Country).
