Purbeck Runners — a run club in Swanage. England Athletics affiliated club. Activities: cross country, hill fell, road running, trail running.
Wednesday evenings have several paced groups of varying length, some on-road and some off-road, plus one group for specialist training such as interval sessions and hill reps; group leaders post details of their runs in advance and members often socialise afterwards. On the first Wednesday of each month the groups go "out and about", meeting at different locations and times posted in the members area. Sunday mornings a group may meet for a longer, typically off-road run, with details posted in advance by the run leader. Runners can dip between groups, and new attendees are helped to pick a suitable group. Visitors may try the club three times before joining, bringing a completed guest form to the run leader. Membership is open to anyone over 18; the club is affiliated to England Athletics and the membership year runs 1 April to 31 March. 2026 fees: full senior membership £43 for 12 months, £33 for 6 months (from 1 Oct), £28 for 3 months or less (from 1 Jan); youth 18-21 £33 for 12 months or £28 for 6 months or less; associate membership £20 for 12 months or £10 for 6 months or less; second claim membership £20 for 12 months or £10 for 6 months or less. Full membership includes England Athletics athlete affiliation (£23), race representation, club championship entry and £2 off licensed race entries. Joining is via an online form on the How to Join page, after which England Athletics issues an invoice. The club runs a championship based on local races and competes in the Dorset Road Race League, Purbeck Trail Series and Wessex Cross Country League.
