Run club in Orpington
Orpington Road Runners is an England Athletics affiliated road running club based in Orpington, formed in 1985, with close to 400 members. Its main gathering is the Tuesday evening club run, which regularly draws 100 or more runners, alongside structured track sessions and ad hoc member-arranged runs. The club caters for a range of abilities and also runs a 10-week beginners course leading to Orpington parkrun.
Sessions include the Tuesday evening club run from the site near the Buff public house, structured track sessions with an experienced leader on Wednesday nights at Norman Park track, and informal runs arranged between members, particularly in winter. Prospective members can try a few sessions before joining; the club asks that you contact orpingtonroadrunners@gmail.com beforehand and tell a group leader you are new, and states that you should be able to run at least 5K. Membership runs from 1 January to 31 December and costs £30 first claim, £7 second claim (for members of another club) and £7 non-competitive; first claim membership includes England Athletics registration and discounted race entries. Track sessions carry an additional Norman Park track fee of £6, or £4.50 concessions. The BeginnORRs beginners course runs for 10 weeks with qualified coach Helen Twomey and club volunteers, starting on the common at Green Street Green, with the next course beginning 28 April 2026 at 19:00; registration via the form on the site is required, and course membership is quoted at £26 for the year. The club enters team races, cross country and the Kent Grand Prix, and members use a Facebook group and WhatsApp communities. England Athletics affiliated club.
