Run club in Sydney
NSW Masters Athletics is the state association for masters athletes in New South Wales and is also a club affiliated with Athletics NSW, open to male and female athletes aged 30 and over. It promotes and hosts track and field, road running, race walking and throws events for masters age groups, with competition organised in five-year age bands. The emphasis is on participation, fitness and social connection rather than qualifying standards, and members can compete at state, national and international masters championships.
Membership is open to all men and women aged 30 and over living in New South Wales, whether social, amateur or professional, and there are no qualification standards for masters events. Membership of the State Association was listed at $35 during September, reverting to $50 from 1 October, with a $25 rate for those aged 70 and over all year; a combined Athletics NSW registration plus NSWMA membership as an open athlete was listed at $190, or $165 in the 70+ category, which allows you to compete in Athletics NSW competitions with NSWMA as your club. Benefits include eligibility for NSW, Australian and world masters records, free access to coaching clinics and online seminars, newsletters and pathways to becoming an official. Competition is organised in five-year age groups (for example W30 for women aged 30-34, M45 for men aged 45-49), and the events pathway runs from interclub and regional meets through NSW Masters Track and Field, Winter Throws and Road Running Championships to national, Oceania and World Masters Championships. An Inclusion Program and Come and Try Days give newcomers a low-pressure introduction; registration and contact details are on the club website. NSW Athletics affiliated club.
