Run club in Rangiora
North Canterbury Athletic Club (NCAN) is an athletics club founded in 1978 and based in Rangiora, New Zealand, drawing members from Kaiapoi, Woodend, Oxford, Amberley and Waikuku. It covers track and field, running and race walking for all ages from children aged 7 through to masters athletes, with around 50 registered members and four accredited coaches. Sessions run as a summer track season from October to March and a winter cross country and road season from April to September, with first-timers training alongside competition squads.
Adult and teen options include Monday running training at Ashgrove Park (cross country and road work in winter, based at Loburn Domain and Ashgrove Park), Tuesday evening event-group squads with qualified coaches and individualised training, and a year-round Thursday social interval session called The Good Trot starting from The Good Drop in Rangiora. Saturday interclub competition is held at Ngฤ Puna Wai in summer, with teens and adults from 1:00pm, and roughly fortnightly cross country and road events at varying venues in winter. Registration for the 2026-27 season is open and involves three steps: a Google Form with the club, then selecting a membership option and training programmes through the GameDay portal. Additional costs apply per entry for summer and winter racing, plus race singlet and club apparel; the club suggests simply turning up to a club night first and confirming current session times, as they can change with daylight and weather. Contact details are on the club website. Athletics NZ affiliated club (seniors, masters, harriers / cross-country).
